The Department of Panchakarma at Dron Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital conducted an intensive two-day practical workshop for Third and Fourth-Year BAMS students, strengthening hands-on clinical competence ahead of hospital postings.

About Panchakarma
Panchakarma — literally “five actions” — is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic therapeutic practice. It is a comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation programme:
- Vamana — therapeutic emesis for Kapha disorders
- Virechana — therapeutic purgation for Pitta conditions
- Basti — medicated enema, the most important of the five
- Nasya — nasal administration of medicated oils
- Raktamokshana — bloodletting therapies
Workshop Curriculum
Day One focused on Abhyanga (medicated oil massage), Shirodhara (continuous oil flow over the forehead), and Swedana (herbal steam therapy). Students practised on anatomical models and observed live demonstrations on willing volunteers from the teaching staff.
“The workshop gave us confidence to actually do what we had only read in textbooks. Feeling the correct pressure in Abhyanga — that only comes from doing it yourself.” — Rahul Kumar, Fourth Year BAMS

Expert Guidance
The workshop was led by Dr. Meena Verma, Head of Panchakarma, with assistance from senior residents. All procedures were conducted in the college’s dedicated Panchakarma wing, equipped with authentic therapy tables, kumbhi-swedana vessels, and a full range of classical Ayurvedic preparations.
Students who completed the workshop received a participation certificate. A second batch workshop is scheduled for next month.
