Sharir Rachana is a branch of Ayurveda which exclusively deals with the study of the human body, using the basic concepts of Ayurveda and dissection, which provides essential medical knowledge for further medical education. The subject of Rachana Sharira is one of the basic subjects of Ayurveda taught in the first year of the BAMS program. Anatomy forms the basis for the practice of medicine — it leads the physician towards an understanding of a patient’s disease, whether by physical examination or by imaging techniques. Knowledge and skills in the field of Rachana Sharira enable Ayurveda graduates to practise medicine successfully.
Department of Rachana Sharir
The subject of Rachana Sharir is one of the basic subjects in the curriculum of B.A.M.S undergraduation. This subject helps students understand the study of normal body structure as described in Ayurvedic samhitas as well as modern science. Complete dissection of the cadaver, carried out in a systematic manner, forms the major part of the practicals. Our department is situated on the ground floor of the main college building and has separate areas for faculty cabins, a department library-museum, a dissection hall, and a cadaver storage room.
