A group of final-year BAMS students from Dron Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital undertook an enriching academic visit to Naya Savera Rehabilitation Centre, Meerut — one of the region’s leading facilities for de-addiction and mental health rehabilitation.

Purpose of the Visit
The visit was organized as part of the Swasthavritta & Yoga and Social & Preventive Medicine curriculum for final-year students. The objective was to expose students to community health settings beyond hospital OPD and IPD.
What Students Observed
- Intake and assessment procedures for substance-dependent patients
- Counselling and behavioural therapy sessions
- Group therapy and peer support circles
- Integration of Yoga and Naturopathy in the recovery protocol
- Diet and Dinacharya plans for rehabilitation patients
“Seeing real patients at various stages of recovery gave me a completely new perspective on what Ayurvedic preventive medicine means in practice.” — Priya Singh, Final Year BAMS

Faculty Reflection
The accompanying faculty member, Dr. R. K. Sharma (Dept. of Swasthavritta), noted that this exposure helps bridge the gap between theoretical Ayurvedic knowledge and real-world public health application. “Ayurveda has always been a holistic system,” he said. “Visits like these remind our students that healing begins long before the clinic.”
The Naya Savera team were open to future collaborations with the college for integrating Ayurvedic wellness modules into their rehabilitation programme.
